McKay celebrates new long-term relationship with Watercare
McKay is delighted to announce its new long-term partnership with Watercare, the largest water and wastewater utility in New Zealand. As one of the panel partners chosen for the programme, McKay will be a significant delivery partner of the $3.5 billion asset renewal programme, which will run over five years.
This partnership will deliver the replacement of aging water and wastewater pipes, upgrade pump stations, and enhance treatment plants throughout the Auckland region. McKay will bring its expertise in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to Watercare’s water and wastewater operations.
Graeme Duffy, McKay’s Auckland Regional Manager, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating:
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to leverage our extensive experience in the water and wastewater sector to contribute to this program. We are fully committed to delivering the first phase of Watercare’s $3.5 billion asset renewals program.”
McKay’s involvement in this project further solidifies its reputation not only as a trusted and capable partner in the water and wastewater industry but also as a proud Amotai organisation.
Watercare, as part of its procurement process for the renewal programme, has made efforts to engage with Māori businesses, in line with its ambitious target of achieving 5% annual spend on Māori and Pasifika businesses by 2025. For McKay Managing Director, Lindsay Faithful this target is a significant and positive step towards promoting diversity in the supply chain.
“McKay is a proud Māori-owned business and member of Amotai who recognises the importance of creating sustainable opportunities for Māori and Pasifika businesses across Aotearoa. With an affiliation to the Ngāpuhi iwi and a deep connection to Te Tai Tokerau and its communities, McKay celebrates its proud history and is inspired to build a strong future. By encouraging fair access to customers and the economy for Māori and Pasifika businesses through effective procurement policies, the playing field can be made more level for these businesses” Says Lindsay.
This long-term relationship demonstrates the trust and confidence placed in McKay by Watercare. The partnership not only benefits the two organizations involved but also brings tangible benefits to the Auckland community. By investing in the renewal and improvement of water and wastewater infrastructure, McKay and Watercare are contributing to the overall well-being and sustainable growth of the region.
McKay is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, innovation, and customer satisfaction throughout the duration of this partnership. With its expert team and dedication to excellence, McKay is poised to meet and exceed the expectations set by Watercare.
