Devonport Naval Base

McKay’s Devonport branch is led by Marine Manager, Martin Cameron, who serves as the Divisional Manager of McKay’s Marine Defence capabilities. Situated within the Devonport Naval Base of the Royal New Zealand Navy, our Devonport team provides 24/7 on-site electrical maintenance for vessels within the Royal New Zealand Navy’s protective fleet.

With expertise in vessel sustainment programmes and marine automation solutions, our Devonport branch have a proven track record of effectively managing large, complex projects from electrical design and engineering to installation and maintenance solutions for inshore and offshore patrol vessels. With successfully completed projects for both the Royal New Zealand Navy and the Royal Australian Navy.

A 30 Year contract with the New Zealand Defence Force

Since 2007, McKay has been actively involved in collaborative efforts with the New Zealand Defence Force, establishing itself as a trusted partner through a significant 30-year contract with the Royal New Zealand Navy. As part of this partnership, McKay plays a critical role in the electrical upgrades and modifications for the RNZN’s fleet.

Award winning service

In acknowledgment of McKay’s dedication to providing support to the New Zealand Defence Forces, the Ministry of Defence recognised our Devonport team with an Awards of Excellence to Industry in 2015 for the provision of outstanding commitment to defence (Category C Winner), awarded for the electrical installation of the Integrated Platform Management System and the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning system aboard the ANZAC Class Frigates.
