John Wansbone, Chief Executive of Sport Northland, expressed his gratitude about the continued partnership. “McKay’s commitment to our community is truly invaluable. Their passion for supporting a venue that is such an integral part of the community speaks volumes. As the largest indoor stadium in Tai Tokerau it truly is a hub for everyone in the region.”

Lindsay Faithfull, Managing Director of McKay, raised in Whangārei and of Ngāpuhi, English, and Scottish descent, has a deep connection to Tai Tokerau and its communities. “Being raised in Northland, we understand the importance of having spaces that bring so many people across our community together, whether for sports, events, or local gatherings. McKay extending its support for the stadium reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to the community.

We started the first five-year period four days after the start of the first Covid lockdown, and although that produced some nervousness, because people would not be able to use the Stadium, we knew that the pandemic would blow over and we were in for the long haul. In the Te Ao Māori world, five years is merely the blink of an eye, so we are very happy to be in for a second blink.”

The partnership with McKay has been essential in providing access to a venue that benefits local clubs, schools, and the broader community. Sport Northland is excited to see the continued support from McKay and looks forward to the next five years.
